La clasificación ISAKOS de las roturas del manguito rotador

Resumen

Se han descrito muchas clasificaciones del manguito rotador; sin embargo, no existe ninguna que englobe todos los criterios que permitan un diagnóstico y un tratamiento óptimos. Estas clasificaciones deben describir la localización y la forma de la rotura, y tienen que ser reproducibles y validadas por médicos e investigadores.

El Comité de Hombro de la International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee and Orthopaedic Surgery (ISAKOS) presenta un sistema de clasificación para el manguito rotador que combina factores cruciales de clasificaciones previas para crear una nueva, sencilla de recordar y que cubra las necesidades de los cirujanos para clasificar mejor las roturas del manguito rotador.

Abstract

Several rotator cuff tear classifications have been described; however, there is no one which include all criteria that allow an optimal diagnosis and treatment. These classifications must describe cuff tear location and shape and they have to be reproducible and validated by doctors and researchers.

The International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee and Orthopaedic Surgery (ISAKOS) Shoulder Committee presents a classification system for rotator cuff tears that combine the crucial factors from those classifications in current use into a unified evaluation system easy to remember that fulfill the needs of the surgeons to classify the rotator cuff tears better.
