Anatomía del tobillo y del pie con las nuevas técnicas de imagen: ecografía de alta frecuencia y eco-Doppler, TC multicorte y resonancia magnética

Resumen

El conocimiento de la anatomía prequirúrgica del pie y del tobillo es condición previa necesaria para la identificación, diagnóstico diferencial y evaluación de lesiones en estos complejos compartimientos, así como para definir la actitud terapéutica y establecer el pronóstico. Las nuevas técnicas de imagen y sus perfeccionamientos recientes constituyen herramientas valiosísimas en este contexto. Se revisan y correlacionan brevemente las posibilidades de las distintas técnicas, resaltando, a la luz de algunos ejemplos prácticos, el papel que a cada una de ellas corresponde en el manejo de la patología osteomuscular del pie.

Abstract

The knowledge of the pre-surgical anatomy of the ankle and foot is an obvious prerequisite for the identification, differential diagnosis and assessment of lesions in these complex compartments, as well as for defining the therapeutic approach and establishing a prognosis. The new imaging techniques and their more recent improvements represent highly valuable tools in this context. The possibilities of the various techniques are briefly reviewed and correlated, and the role each of them may fulfil in the management of osteomuscular conditions of the ankle and foot is highlighted through selected practical examples.
